Bed Rest
I wanted to take a minute to blog about our latest adventure.
Our baby girl tried to come early! On Sunday, I went in to the hospital at 9:00 in the morning by myself. After being admitted and checked, I began having regular contractions. Every time the nurse or midwife came in the room they would bring me worse news. I really thought that I would be sent home after receiving the test results, but that was not the case. Preterm labor is not a familiar thing for me, and everything happened so quickly. I have 40 weekers, not 33 weekers. I was so afraid. The NICU was full, so if I threatened to deliver they would have had to transfer me to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. Lincoln was able to come to the hospital at 12:00. (thanks for taking the kids Christie!) Luckily after two shots of Tributalene the contractions stopped (or slowed enough) so we could go home. I am on strict bed rest until my next appointment, which is now only 8 days away.
The list of things I can't do is crazy. I can't sit in a chair. I can't go up the stairs. I can only shower every other day, and it is located up stairs. I only have bathroom privileges. I do not have kitchen privileges. No, Lincoln can't carry me up the stairs (I asked!). Maybe they are being a little paranoid, but I don't care. I am going to sit on this couch for 8 days. If we can buy her two more weeks that would be wonderful.....more than that would be FABULOUS!
I forgot to mention that my Mom is here. She flew in yesterday. My heart could just burst, because I am so thankful for her help. I am so lucky, and my kids couldn't be more pleased.

Jeri! I've been so worried about you since Sunday and then I heard from Jenni that you were on bed rest. (I suppose I could have just called, eh?) And I had just seen you at Olive Garden!! I really hope everything goes well and that little pumpkin stays PUT for a while!
Well, if you don't mind, this is one thing I will not copy you on! Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you!!! Want to borrow any movies? Books?
Jeri I am so sorry that all of this is going on! I really hope that the time speeds by for you on bed rest and that your little sweetie holds off on an early entrance! I too have lots of different kinds of books and movies... Let me know if there's anything I can do!
You don't know how thankful I am for blogging....and laptops. I actually feel a little connected to the outside world now. =)
Oh sweet Annie! Thanks for the nice comment! I wish you lived closer too.
I had the same thought Cami! I order you not to follow in my foot steps on this one. Scary! =)
Jenni and Cami, my moive collection is full of "man" movies, so I may take you up on your offer. I have a stack of books waiting to be read...I pray that I am here long enough to read all of them. =)
Oh, Jeri, I cried reading this! I am so sorry that this is happening, but it sounds like the doctors know what they are doing. I'm so glad to hear your mom is there to hold up the fort. She is so wonderful! Tell her "Hi" from me! You will be in our prayers. Take care and I'll look forward to seeing your "Top 10 movies and books" post on your blog! I love your guts!
Hi Jeri,
I have tried to call you but none of my numbers work. I hope you are feeling better today. If anyone knows how you feel, I do. Yikes, I sat in a chair for 6 weeks. It did pay off, although the labor was a little too fast. :) Just hang in there, I did a lot of word puzzles and watched TV until I couldn't stand it anymore - but I had to. I couldn't have done it without help from my ward then. Remember when you did all my shopping? I love you and I will try to talk to you soon.

Oh, I hope your sweet Simone (I think) stays in a little while longer. So glad your mom is with you. That makes a ton of difference. I wish I had movies for you, but I only have kid Disney. Actually I do have My Big Fat Greek Wedding, but maybe you shouldn't do too much laughing, it will make your belly bounce! We're all thinking of you.
Hey you, you already know what I think, but I was here anyway and thought I ought to leave a little crumb behind. :-) Did you miss my 9:00 pm knock tonight? You always know it is me. :-) I hope you had a nice restful day. We'll talk to you tomorrow, try not to fret.
FRIEND. I was so nice to hear your voice on Monday night and hear that all is well. I'll be thinking about you.
SWEETIE!!!!!!!! *BIGHUGS* Gosh I am so sad to hear this, but so grateful you have good friends nearby to help (and your sweet mom, tell her hi from me). Adam said "I'll work from home and you fly out there and helP". I thought that was so sweet. :) But I know you have good friends and that your mom is there, and you have great helpers. Let me know though if you need the extra help. Maybe I'll forward you the hundreds of funny emails I have to keep you busy! You and the fam are in our prayers, and I'll talk to you on the phone ;)
*hugs*
Things can change so quickly. Thank heaven for computers and mothers who can come to help! We'll be thinking of you and hoping and praying that you get a little more time to be pregnant:)
Oh... You are in my prayers. I hope she stays in there for a little while longer and that you don't go crazy having to sit all day :) Thanks heavens for moms!
Jeri, I noticed today that the present (for niece #6 -aubreyemily shelbybriannanatalia- definitely a sign that she's cool, I'm a number six) is still in my closet. I promise I took it out and gave it to mom. I think she gave it back so her luggage wouldn't be too heavy. Now I have to send it. I'll try to remember. Tell her to stay put until Uncle Mike's present gets there. If she gets up and starts marching, stop the music!
I hope you are well. I watched videos of whippets on youtube today, I think I sent you one. Sit tight and tell Mom hi.
