Simone-- 5 days old

Quick update on Simone.

(Everyone looks better in black and white when they have jaundice! =)

She is doing very well today. Her bilirubin count was at a 12, and she had to go under the lights for a day or so. It is now at 9.5, and they will take her out at 8:00 tonight. Then retest tomorrow, and see if the her number has gone back up.

Sunglasses!

Tiny sunbather?

She had a lot of trouble (because being so tired as a result of the jaundice) finishing her bottles. They had a tube down her nose, and had to use it several times to finish feedings. Lincoln is such a good dad, and is always able to make her finish her bottles. The tube was taken out of her nose last night! Hooray, she is doing so well. She can breath out her nose now too. =) I am determined to nurse her and hope that the transition isn't hard for her.

We are doing well at home. My Mom is here until Sunday. I am so thankful that she is here. I can't imagine how hard it would have been without her!! It is hard to be home without my baby though. It is so strange, and sometimes think I am still pregnant. I have been able to visit her a lot though, and it heavenly to hold her. She now weighs 2000 grams! (That is 4 lbs. 4 oz)

Everyone says babies are beautiful, but sometimes I secretly think they look like aliens. That picture of Simone is gorgeous!! She looks like the most delicate, elfin little baby. I'm sure it's been hard not to hold her all the time. I can't wait to read that you have her home!

Oh Jeri, I wish I were here this week while your mom is gone to help with anything! I will be back soon and give you a call. I hope all is going well. She is so sweet!!
Tera had a bilirubin of 25!!! The doctor called me and said, "how fast can you get back to the hospital?" I cried and cried! It was very traumatic. We camped out under the lights for four days and nights.
We sure love you Jeri and are praying for you and your cute family!
