Those are the stats. We are so pleased that she is here.
My water broke on Sunday morning at 6:15 am. I was asleep. We got to the hospital, and they decided to wait and see what my body would do. Well, it did nothing. Lincoln had a nice enjoyable day at the hospital. In the evening Christie and Christina came and washed my hair in the sink, gave me a facial, and a hand massage. It was wonderful. My midwife and doctor decided it would be best to induce me the next morning. They put me on a SLOW pitocin drip at midnight. I KNEW when I saw that bag of pitocin that I would have her during the night...and I was right.
I started to have contractions at 1:15 am that kept waking me up. About 2:00 the contractions started to get annoying, and woke my labor coach (Lincoln). Around 2:30 am I was about 3 cm dialated and 70% effaced. This was disappointing news, because I was really starting to hurt and thought I would be much further along. My sweet coach and I kept at it, and at 3:40 am I was at 4 almost 5 cm. (This was actually a lie, my midwife couldn't bear to tell me I was still at 3 cm.) I really felt like I needed to push. Lincoln kept reminding me to breath, and NOT push. I had a few more contractions, my nurse was in the room for one of them. She also reminded me not to push. I said, "I can't wait until I hear the word PUSH!" Lincoln and my nurse laughed, and as she walked out of the room my nurse said," I'll come running in if I hear a baby cry." She was kidding, little did she know that is what she would be doing in a few minutes...
The hospital room was lit only by a computer screen monitor. Lincoln was by my side, and I was tucked in bed. I held his arm. I screamed "The baby is coming RIGHT NOW! SHE IS COMING!" Lincoln scrambled for the nurse call button, but never found it. Our baby girl arrived. Under the blankets. Every nurse on the floor heard me and was in the room seconds later. I scrambled to throw the blankets off me. My nurse got to her first, and she told me she was fine. This is when I started crying. I don't think I stopped for 30 minutes. My midwife ran into the room pulling at the waist band of her pants and tying them up. She said, "Can't I even pee in this hospital?" We all laughed. The baby was doing so well. Breathing beautifully, and screaming at the top of her lungs. I got to hold her for about five minutes and enjoyed every second. They took her to the NICU, and we got to go see her about an hour later.
Her first day was a hard day. She had low blood sugar, was not able to maintain her temperature, and spitting up entire feedings. She was moved to an isolette, and had a feeding tube put down her throat. Her second day was much better. She keep down all her meals (all bottle fed), and her blood sugar level is now steady. I got to hold her so much today. It is pure heaven to have her in my arms. She knows my voice, and will turn her head when I talk. I say things like "Put those scissors away.", "No you can't have a snack, I am making dinner.", and "Pick up your shoes.", so she knows that it is me.
She has the sweetest face. I will take a picture tomorrow of her that shows it a little better. She has long long fingers, skinny feet, lots of dark brown fuzzy hair, baby rosebud lips, and sweet eyelashes.

Oh Jeri. Congratulations! Such a scary, but happy-ending story! She's a beautiful baby, though I can't wait to see what you'll do with your camera when you're both feeling a little better. Hugs and prayers to your family. I'll check in with you soon.
You know that I think she is Beautiful, and that Linclon did a rocking job on those photos. I can't wait till we can take pictures. She is so wonderful
OOOH what an unexpected and exciting post!! I was checking up on you since I knew you were on bedrest, but I was still surprised!
What a sweetheart! Simone must be so long and tiny. I can't believe how different each labor can be. And what a birth story! To be born without any attendants. I think I would have cried too from all the emotion and stress and joy of the moment. Tons of congratulations and love to you. I can't wait to see Simone one day!
I'm so glad she's doing well. She looks so sweet. So glad you're well too and that you had such sweet friends to take care of you! I can't believe you were able to blog already! Congrats on your new blessing!
Oh Jeri-I'm bawling! I know you told me the story on the phone, but for some reason reading it on your blog and seeing the photos of her just made me cry! Poor Duncan's confused right now! Congratulations again, I'm so happy you have your little Simone with you-can't wait to see her! Call if you need ANYTHING!
That was such an amazing story! She is sooo beautiful! I am so glad that everything went well and that she is okay too. Christie said you are coming home tonight, so I will give you a call tomorrow.
We will sure pray for you and your sweet little girl!
Oh my goodness!! Congratulations!! I am so happy for you! She is gorgeous!! You have quite the birth story! I love her name and can't wait to meet her!!
Congratulations dear Jeri! I have sure been thinking about you and praying for you these past weeks. Your story is amazing but so very happy in the end. Take care!
wow, jeri. what a story! she baby came with no one there!? amazing. i am so glad things went as well as they did. she's here and she's doing so well! she's just beautiful.
Jeri! I cried at the first pic of you and Simone. You look a bit emotional and I just thought it captured the instant love of a mother for her child. Sniff, sniff. Still crying. Okay. Wow! You are a champ. 34 wks can be scary, but she sounds like a little trooper! No oxygen, no ventilator, no IV nutrition...yay Simone! Can't wait to hear more. We all love you soooooooooooo.

Oh my! I can't believe she came so early!!! Crazy! I'm glad she is ok. Jake instant messaged me and told me you had her like it was no big deal and I started freaking out!! But it sounds like she will be just fine. She is so very tiny. What a darling little girl. I'm sure it will be so nice to have her home with you! I know it's no fun to leave a baby in the hospital. Good luck with everything.
Man, I used to think when you had your baby I'd be right around the corner, and now you go and shave off more than a month!! You have shocked me into actually preparing.
Congratulations. She is beautiful. I am glad she is doing well.
She is adorable! I am so glad everything went well. You and my cousin (who were both due after me) both had your babies this week, and now I am even more anxious for my little one. Congratulations again.
OH Jeri I have been thinking and praying for you so much. I want you to know that you just made me cry reading this post and looking at those precious pictures. I think it is great you can see the love just with you holding her so close. She is beautiful and I am so happy you are both okay. Can't wait to see more pictures :-)
Welcome to earth sweet Simone.
This is your uncle Mike, your soon-to-be-favorite uncle.
Wow-ee you didn't waste a second did ya? You sound exactly like Jeri (your mom if you haven't figured that out by now). You are lucky to have Wyatt and Natalia for your big brother and sister. I would even go so far as to say you are lucky to have Cyrus who won't be allowed to go near you for a while. It's okay - he can wait.
Wow! What news! I thought something was up when your computer was off for two days! :) I should have called Lincoln when I had the nagging feeling that I should on Sunday. I'm so happy that Simone is doing well and that you are good, too! I loved the pictures! You didn't say anything about your mom, but I'm assuming that she's still there. What did Wyatt and Talia say/do? I'm so happy for you! (I'll call in a few days! Love you!)
Jeri. My favorite picture is the one where you are laying in bed with the blood pressure cuff on, hugging that girl like you'll never let go. What a loved baby. You made me cry. I am beyond thrilled for you and your family.
Jeri, Congratulations. And welcome Simone... How beautiful is she and how amazing is that story! I am glad all is well.
Goodness, thank you for sharing such a special moment with us.
It is very scary with no help in the room, huh? I'm so happy she's doing great. Our prayers are with you, and your little one. Hopefully we get to see you before we move!
Congratulations on your beautiful little simone. I love the name. I am glad everything is okay. These little girls can't wait to get here. I'm glad Hailey waited until 37weeks! I have preemie clothes Hailey is outgrowing if you want them.
