We got 23" inches of snow. Our poor camel out back was buried.

Simone stayed inside with me. Lincoln built our first fire in the fireplace. It was wonderful!

The big kids had a blast in the snow. I gave them spray bottles with food coloring in them, and they loved painting the snow.

The wildlife in Maryland is so amazing. We have squirrels, deer, foxes, rabbits, cardinals, blue jays, snakes, turtles, and geese near our home all the time. I spotted this interesting animal in our yard and had to take a picture! (Yes, those are real antlers. Lincoln hunts. Yes, she wore them for about an hour. Just FYI, I am pro-bambi.)

We loved being snowed in! I had to deliver some photo orders so we ventured out in Lincoln's truck during the thick of the storm. It was like driving a big four wheeler around. He even tried to get stuck...and couldn't. My husband is amazing...if he see someone in trouble he will help them. The kids and I stayed inside the warm truck countless times while Lincoln ran out in the blizzard to help someone whose car was stuck. He helped a man from Africa that spoke very little English, and worked for about 15 minutes to get him out of a snowdrift. The man said "I go home now," when the car was finally free. Lincoln laughed. I loved seeing him hop back in his truck with cold red cheeks, and every time he would say, "Woo, I'm tired!"
I fell more in love with Lincoln on this day. Watching him help these people was simply sweet. (And he looked hot doing it.) He is so thoughtful, kind, and loves to serve someone in need. He was with some friends in the morning and they took a lady that was 9 months pregnant and very stuck in the snow to her home. Those three friends got several people unstuck too. I teased Lincoln and asked them if they wore capes.
Then we were headed over to Rileigh and Ben's and saw a ulility van stuck on (Gorman) a skinny little country road. Lincoln helped him out, and then as we were following him down the road his van began to slide again. The back end of the van started coming forward and swinging off the road. We watch and gasped as the van slid right toward a telephone pole. We started laughing as it stopped literally 3 inches from the pole. It was unbelievable! Lincoln took another 15 minutes to help him out.(...keep in mind he is the one outside during this time...pushing, rocking, and jumping on the bumper.) Three other vehicles coming the other direction (two big trucks, one with a snowplow on it) were blocked by the van. They sat there and watched my husband push this big old van out of the snow. When the van was free I looked at the big strong men in those trucks as they passed us, and couldn't believe they didn't get out to help!
It was a memorable blizzard. I actually didn't hate it. I loved being snowed in with my family! I now I can say"remember the blizzard of '09", and I look forward to reminding the kids about their superhero dad.
